Title: best settings for 160g paper?
Post by: nibbler on November 07, 2018, 03:13:24 AM
I am trying to cut red 160g paper and this is what worked and not worked so far:

Cutting (5 passes),0,128,1000,0.1,5,0,500 -  cuts through, it is a bit too smoky and IŽd love it a bit faster so I tried :
Cutting (4 passes),0,255,1000,0.1,4,0,1000 - that is even smokier and canŽt get 100% through
Cutting (8 passes),0,100,1000,0.1,8,0,1000 - this one couldnŽt get through and still ended up smoky
Cutting (3 passes),0,128,1000,0.1,3,0,300 - slow and gets through but smoky
Cutting (2 passes),0,128,1000,0.1,2,0,300 - slow, objects stay in the paper but can be pushed out

IŽd love to have less smoke, what could I do ?

make sure you're using air assist.  it helps with the charring and smoke.

Hmm maybe this could lead to problems since I cut through paper and I like to keep the elements ;-)
I already planned a table with a slight vacuum but not more than a vinyl plotter does, so air from top would scatter my paper pieces all over the place.

That's going to be difficult then, my CO2 cuts paper cleanly without air assist. It uses a honeycomb table and extractor fan underneath.

IŽll give it a try, maybe I just have to make the vacuum a bit stronger then. IŽll report.
