T2 Engraving / Re: A couple more lids
« on: November 01, 2016, 07:15:00 PM »
I find it very challenging to get a good burn on hard maple. I have to slow the feed rate way down, make multiple passes to get a deep engraving and then sand off the scorching. It's very time consuming but the results are worth it.

I really like that walnut lid!

Do you have Center Start selected? Also remember not to check absolute.

As always I uninstalled my current version of T2 before downloading 1.3i.  This time I couldn't just run the setup from the download folder. I had to extract everything to a new file. This is NOT a problem for me. I just wanted to let @Zax know about it because it's a different behavior from other versions.

T2 Engraving / Re: Positioning the "engraving" on the workpiece!!!!

Last month there was a post with two 5mw line lasers were mounter to the frame. I think they also found a way to add detectors to make it self aligning.

Anyone have a link to that post? I wasn't able to find it.

While it is not specifically a CAD tool it does allow us to take 3D models and turn them into drawings that we can laser cut and then assemble into 3D models.

All those apps look pretty cool. Thanks for sharing Agastar!

I've been playing around with FreeCAD the last few days.

I was planning on doing some tests with T2 tonight. I'll give the firmware a try too.

If you are looking to upgrade the machine, an existing CAD model is helpful as it saves reinventing the wheel and drawing it from scratch.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

You mean a series of CAD drawings of the laser frame and controller and steppers, etc.?

A series of CAD drawings or a solid model of the complete machine. Anything really.

My daughter was being a bit distracting while I was typing and I messed up my question. I sure wish I still had the energy of a five year old!

Just curious if anyone has made a CAD model of one of these machines?

My L6 is a POS. Already scrapped for mechanical headers and stepper motor drivers. Bad Nano, bad MOSFET, bad trace, crappy Nano header.

Wow POS is right! Didn't leave you much to work with.
