I never thought about the driver current.  Thank you.

So do I just need to compensate manually for the oval distortion?

T2 Engraving / Using T2 with an Eleksrotate module

I got an Eleksrotate module from the wifey for Christmas.  Are there any settings in T2 that I need to change for engraving using this module?   On the tests that I have done so far, the engraving appears to be oval instead of round.

Amen to that.  I have to make sure I have good ventilation when doing mirror backs. :o

Now I'm getting a "404 bad request" error when I try to post an attachment.

I just noticed that whenever I try to click on an attachment there is an error message that says "Attachment not Found".  Have all of the attachments been deleted to save space?

I keep getting an error message when I try to post attachments to my posts that reads "The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved."

My attachments are photos that are well within the size limits.  What am I doing wrong?

Recently, I purchased a 5500mW laser module off of EBay.  As I was waiting on the slow boat from China I happened to mention it to a friend that also does laser engraving.  He told me that he had heard the 5 watt laser modules only project a rectangular beam.  Sadly, he was right.  The beam from this module was very large and rectangular even when focused as tightly as possible.  The only solutions I could find were to either tilt the module 45 degrees so that the kerf of the beam wasn't as wide, or to use tape to cover up part of the lens.  Neither of these solutions worked well.

I took the lens off of the module and noticed that the laser diode was an open type diode with no metal can on the top of the emitter.  I wondered if this was why the beam was rectangular instead of circular like the diodes that have only a small opening at the top.

I took a plastic washer and placed it over the diode, and then a metal washer on top of that.  EUREKA! I now have a laser module with a circular beam that I can focus to a tight point, with no loss of power that I can detect.

The red circle is the size of the beam before the modifications.

It's on order.  Thank you!

Yeah, but I have to wait until late July or August to get it here.  I'm looking for a US supplier, or someone like Amazon Prime where I can get it delivered in days and not weeks, or months. The only alternative seems to be to pay an extra $50 in shipping to get a $7 board here any faster

Something like this:

Is there anywhere I can order a TTL driver board and not have to wait a month for delivery?  Everything must come from China it seems.

T2 Engraving / Laser scale off
« on: February 08, 2018, 01:17:10 PM »
I'm using a Chinese laser with an Arduino Uno Mana SE board and T2.  I've been using it for over a year, but now for some reason the scale of the laser is off by a factor of about 3.  If I tell it to draw a 10mm square, it draws a 31mm square.  The only change I made recently was to add a PWM laser module.  This shouldn't affect the scale of the machine, should it?

T2 Engraving / Progress Screen

Would it be possible to add a progress screen that shows where the laser is in relation to the image?
