Got it - thank you.

T2 Engraving / How to zero out the machine

Green noob here.  Attempting to burn a grid and Trying to re zero X and Y after manually moving the laser to the desired point but can't figure it out.  And even if, by some technique that I stumbled on but can't repeat, I do get X and Y at 0.0 when I run it the X motor moves to the stop and that terrible click, click, click.  I guess my question is how to zero out to 0.0 after positioning the laser manually.

T2 Software Updates / update failed, now wont connect
« on: June 30, 2018, 07:32:11 AM »
Upon opening T2 this AM was notified of an update.  Proceeded to get it but when Norton issued a cautionary note I inadvertently hit the Remove option instead of the Proceed option.  Not only did that abort the update but it removed the program all together.  Ive reuploaded it but now it wont connect.  Im still a baby here so need a bit of assistance.

Assembly Help / Re: Stepper motor plugs

Ah, now I understand,  Thank you.  I do orthopaedic surgery for a living but live at the "poets and lovers" level in electronics but I intend to get up to a more functional level.

I'm totally lost and have no idea what you are describing unless you are providing that service you use in your tag line.

28BYJ-48 is available in 5 or 12V.  I got the 12V version.  Its also a bipolar motor and so modification of the board in the motor is required and I've done that mod.  Just now have to figure out how to plug it into a Y axis motor.

Building the rotary device (thing #2348308 on thingiverse) for my A5 and acquired the motor (28BYJ-48) but the plug is slightly wider and the indicator tabs are different, hence it won't plug in to the motor.  Where can I find a plug that fits the stepper motor?

Awesome!  Thank you so much.  Ordered

Rather than add a permanent connection of my fan to my laser I'd like to find a male and female connector with pigtails.  The JST that I find only has male connectors that solder to a perfect board.  Are there not male connectors with pig tails?

Thanks to all for all the help.  Pull down resistor soldering place with the help of some loupes...boY is that a small space.

T2 Engraving / Reverse/mirror image text printing
« on: June 04, 2018, 08:33:11 PM »
Newbie here. After reading various reviews I decided to go with T2 and didn't bother with the limited trial, I just bought it.  Seems like small investment after what I'd paid for the A5 laser.  Watched and did the steps on the "So I've loaded T2, now what."  After getting my circle to be a circle I tried some simplementation text but it printed in correct in the mirror.  I didn't go past that as I was concerned with stabilizing wires.  Where do I go next to solve this?

Spare Parts Sources / connector plug
« on: June 02, 2018, 06:08:44 AM »
After receiving recommendation from Zax to get power for my fan addition from the laser, I'm looking at the 3 wire connector and thinking it would be easiest to get a new plastic connector and the female bits inside and build a new plug with 5 wires: 3 to the laser and 2 to the fan.  My question what are the plastic pieces and the female inserts called and where are they sourced?  Of course I'm assuming that the female inserts are removable like most plug connector assemblies are.

I think the 10K is a little weak. Especially for cables over 25cm. I started with 10K and switched to 4.7K. Others have used 1K.

Before diving into this laser thing the last time I dealt with electronics was in High School (45 years ago) So either my recall is flawed or your advertised sarcasm was employed.  "10K is weak so I went to 4.7K".  Since you told me recently that you were the worlds foremost authority on resistors I'm asking for explanation/education.
