Engraving / Re: Slate?
« on: January 20, 2017, 02:34:23 PM »
ok i lied.  You can get an engraving off the slate.  You also loose alot of the cool stone characteristics.  Everything gets smoothed out.  To remove the engraving get out your orbital sander medium grit paper and lean on it.  Smooths the slate, removes the design and really flattens the piece.  Dunno if I like it this smooth or not.  But yes you can have unlimited retries with this method.

Thanks I will have to try that :)

Well, somehow I missed the replies on this thread, sorry about that guys.

Yeah, I still have all the files we used on the slate coasters. I'll grab them and post them here when I get home tonight.

The Dobby image was something my wife found online and gave to me to engrave. My skills are not that good lol.

These were meant to be direct replacements with a few minor improvements but I can certainly make them whatever shape :)

Good deal, I'm glad you got it working. I know how frustrating it can be sometimes.

I made a set with oval holes on the bottom so that it could be adjusted.

Laser Modules / Re: Sanwu 5.5W Blue Violet Laser Module - TTL/PWM

They useually say in the listing if it supports PWM or not. That doesn't mean it doesn't for sure but that's what I've seen so far.

If you find out different please let us know.

WooHoo! I'm glad you were able to get it working. I see you went with the belts crossing over in the middle by flipping the belts over so they are flat when they cross each other. Man, that looks really sweet!
