T2 Engraving / A few pictures of acrylic engraving
« on: May 23, 2017, 09:58:59 AM »
The photography is terrible, but here are a few things we've been doing with T2 Laser.

We engrave on acrylic.  Then we put LED lights to edge light.  These are early examples.  The 'Classic Home Gamerooms' photo in particular shows how badly fingerprints show.

The acrylic sheets we buy have brown paper.  The laser burns the paper.  We have used transfer tape (used by vinyl graphics people), and spray painted the tape black.  This gives good results, but if there is a small air bubble it will leave a gap in the  completed image.

T2 Laser has been working great for us!

T2 Engraving / HPGL size is slightly too small - any suggestions?

When we do an engraving that is 18 inches wide, it comes out 16 5/8 inches wide.

This is a .plt file.

Any suggestions?  The guide says leave the plotter units at 1016 steps/inch... but it looks as though I might want to change that setting.

T2 Engraving / Hatching - how do you guys do this?
« on: April 28, 2017, 01:35:36 PM »
It's a simple thing that has got me stumped.

I've got a vector drawing, I want the laser to engrave hatching lines that fill an object.

(See the example picture)

I'd like to set the lines to be (as in the picture) horizontal, but I might want to set the pitch of the hatch lines very fine to fill an area, or I might want them wider spaced.

It would be cool to be able to set them at 45 degrees.

I have access to corel designer and corel draw.  The vector drawings I use are actually created in an old version of a Neon creation program, but it exports .plt files that look great in T2 Laser.

How the heck do you guys fill an area if you don't hatch fill?
