General Discussion / CNC multi passes
« on: July 25, 2018, 09:04:18 AM »
Still piddling with my homemade cnc machine on occasion and need to know if the multipass function is for laser cutting only and why, after making the cuts, T2 only returns the Z axis to 3 instead of zero? Thanks

General Discussion / Z axis
« on: February 12, 2018, 11:24:34 AM »
Have been reading the topic started by MarcusJ concerning the Banggood Z axis trying to figure out what is wrong with mine. It acts like it hangs up sometimes when it is either going up or down. Have taken apart to see if there was anything physical causing this problem but did not locate anything. Have tried adjusting the bolts, both mounting and axis, to see if there was a binding problem but still nothing. The only thing I can figure out is that maybe I don't have GRBL set up right for this axis. Both X and Y work find. Maybe I'm not calculating the steps or something right because they are metric. Can anyone tell me what their Z settings are on their units or if they have had the same problem and how they remedied it. Any help would be appreciated so that I can get my mini cnc working. My X and Y axis are double start SAE rods. Thanks to all.

General Discussion / T2 work with UNO
« on: January 31, 2018, 03:59:16 PM »
I have a mini CNC machine that I have been working on for off and on 2 years but am not really happy with the results I have had from Universal Gcode Sender. I was wondering if T2 would work with this board. When I plug it in, it does move the X ans Y axis but I find no place to test the Z axis. The board is an UNO knockoff. I tried looking thru the mini CNC board but didn't find the answer I was looking for. Thanks for any help that I might receive.

General Discussion / mini laser software
« on: December 22, 2016, 03:36:21 PM »
Purchased mini laser about two years ago but never learned to use it because I decided to buy a larger unit. Anyway, unforeseen situations has caused me to put the larger unit away for a time and I want to stay active with lasers so I decided to pull this one out since it is small and portable. It uses Lite Fire Laser software which has little or no support. While trying to learn how to get the most out of it I found out that it will do both raster and vector items because some of their examples cut or burn as a raster image and some burn as vectors. I have used the enclosed drawing software, Inkscape, but can not figure out how to save the drawings so that they will burn or cut as a vector. Hopefully someone can tell me what I am doing wrong. (Actually never gonna cut considering it is labeled as 300mw but question if that s true since never got it to cut thru lite cardboard with multiple passes.) Thanks to all

General Discussion / Laser/Fan
« on: September 07, 2016, 10:09:06 AM »
Ok. I have a Banggood 2500mw laser and don't really like the way the fan goes on and off every time the laser goes on or off. I removed the fan and looked at how the two wires are attached inside the laser head. Shouldn't be no problem to unsolder the two fan wires and extend wires back to my L5 board so that the fan will run any time there is power to the board. Question is: Is the fan an intregal part of the head and is part of the required load or is it just a common connecting point for the diode and fan. Don't want to burn anything up. Thanks
