Laser Accessories / Compressor Air Assist
« on: October 15, 2016, 04:12:58 PM »
Just added air assist from my compressor to the laser module.  Used an airbrush hose, and a needle inflator for a ball. Some constructive bending of a coat hanger and some zip ties!! Works better than my air assist on my CO2 Laser. I might just modify the CO2 laser just like this too. Helps to keep smoke a debris from charing in the engraving. Also helps to move the smoke away from the surface.

Trouble Shooting / Gantry allowing play
« on: October 09, 2016, 03:52:50 PM »
My Gantry is allowing twist on my 300x400 banggood 2.5W laser. I don't see the problem when I go side to side raster print. But when I go to vector it allows the Gantry to twist just enough to be off by .5mm.i didn't have this problem with the 17x22cm laser. Is there a way to tighten this up so flex is not there? Can I use the circular holes that are not used in the Gantry to add a dowel to tighten this up? Or do I get the Gantry side pieces milled instead of using the plexiglass sides?

Trouble Shooting / Y Axis Motors
« on: September 05, 2016, 12:01:24 PM »
I had to replace 1 of my Y axis motors due to it going bad. Now the Y2 Motor (newly replaced) is getting substantially hotter than the other Y1 motor. I have adjusted the current but it only adjusts both, I go up and it gets loud, I go down and it stops moving. So it is adjusted in the middle, but the Y2 motor is getting hot, and Suggestions? I don't want to keep burning up motors, I have an L7 control board, and the 200x300 eleks machine.

T2 Engraving / Power Outage
« on: August 22, 2016, 07:35:49 PM »
Word of advise for those using the Benbox lasers with the T2 software. The other night I was running an image on a plaque, and about 4 hours into the burn of approx 190k lines of code my power surged and the laser shut off for just a second. The program didn't catch the small jump in power but the machine reset home and continued to run code bot it shifted home approx 20mm to the right effectively ruining the piece. Just a word of warning, buy and run you computer and laser on an UPS  (uninterrupted power supply) battery backup. My 1500 watt ups says it would run the laser and computer for 84 mins on battery alone, giving me enough time to go pause the gcode or depending on how much is left just watch and finish the burn.

Again if you have already figured this out than your good but if you haven't invested in an UPS than consider yourself warned, don't do anything expensive or time consuming with out a battery backup.

T2 Engraving / Laserable Aluminum
« on: August 14, 2016, 11:52:06 AM »
Has anyone tried to use Laserable Aluminum for award Plaques? If so any luck? I tried the other night and it looks like I'm either getting it too hot or the full coating isn't coming off right, it says to use 600 dpi. What setting is that in T2? I know .1 is 200 dpi is it linear? So .05 400 dpi? I'm going to try using Brasso or Never Dull on the piece after engraving to see if the shine comes back. I know it is designed for a 35 watt CO2 laser at 50%, 20% speed. So I hit it at 255, 200 feed rate. Maybe it needs multi pass. Any help with this would be appreciated.

T2 Engraving / Piece setup
« on: August 13, 2016, 01:42:24 PM »
Is there a way to set an image within T2 software to make it relative to a different position rather than x 0 y 0 or do I just have to make my home a different location

T2 Engraving / Filled and vectored Text
« on: August 12, 2016, 09:36:33 PM »
So I figured out how to do Vector text but I cannot figure out how to do solid text for Engraving dark lines as well I was wondering is there a way to not only do the solid text but also to factor around it in one pass. On a different note is there a way to set up the size of the engraving as a background so that I can place my pictures text and everything all on one canvas. I found inside of sketch mode I can set the piece size but  I can't seem to get the ability to add a picture to that canvas.

T2 Engraving / Output size incorrect
« on: July 16, 2016, 11:14:58 PM »
I resize the image to 76 mm wide which should be 3 inches, but when it engraver it tries to go 10 inches wide and the belt slips at the ends of the track. Is there settings I am doing wrong?

I have the smaller 17cm x 22cm from banggoof.com

My Home Position is lower left when the circut board is on top since it seems to be opposite of Benbox. If this is right

And when I check my limits the long axis shows only 65mm in the laser control and my short axis shows 160mm there is some settings wrong please help
