Thank you very much. I had never heard of air assist. Without even googling it I could immediately imagine its use. Now I am going to do just that. Does anyone have any links or images that could help me? Right now I'm imagining some 1/8" tubing with a manual flow control valve from my air compressor running down the back side of my laser head with a little "nozzle" of some kind.

Hello everyone,

I'm cutting thru birch for the first time and it is a rather intricate piece... but it is taking FOREVER! I knew my little laser was not going to be efficient with cutting, but this is silly.

How do I determine if a replacement laser will work with my current system? What's the highest power I could theoretically go? What are the important items to consider? I'm a computer and electronics guy, but I know I don't have enough knowledge to make an informed decision.  Like this laser, I have no idea if it would work with my setup, but that is the kind of increase in power I'm after.

The colors were assigned by layer, which means lines actually had no color assigned directly to them, defaulting to black. I did quick select by layer and assigned the appropriate color. Saved as  DXF and imported... perfect.

Obviously something wrong with my drawing. After posting this thread (with a little frustration) I made a new DWG with a red line and saved it as a DXF. The import worked fine and shows a red line. If I figure out what is wrong with the original file I will share.

I searched for the answer, apologies if this a redundant question.

I have a DWG with colors saved as a DXF. After T2 imports it all of the lines are black. Opening the DXF with AutoCAD shows all of the colors. What am I doing wrong?

T2 Engraving / Laser Engraver Upgrade

Hi everyone. I had made a post a couple of weeks ago asking if anyone knew the belt size of a specific type of laser engraver. Thanks to Zax and mauriceman for their assistance with belt size info.

The unit has been upgraded and is working perfectly again. The original size was 17cm x 22cm and I upgraded to 60cm x 100cm. I also built a support above the gantry for the control board and cable management. It took a little fine tuning with spacers, washers, belt tightness, but it works great. Sorry the second image is a little blurry.

I actually didn't see your reply until just this minute, but I appreciate the effort anyway. I wound up buying 5 Meters GT2 2mm Pitch 6mm Wide Timing Belt based on my own measurements and advice from Zax. So far fitting perfectly.

I'll try to post before and after pics when I am finished.

Hey Zax,

My setup is probably different from most of your other users, but I'd like for engrave frame to move at a faster speed, and continue to run until I click a prompt to cancel. If there is already a way to do this I would appreciate the knowledge.

Hey guys,

Working on a gift project for family. Created a new sketch, selected a font and size, but wanted to turn it 90 degrees clockwise. I was unable to find the means to do this in sketch mode, but it also didn't work once returning to the default T2 Engraving mode.

I know there are other ways to get this accomplished, but I want to know if there is a way to do it through sketch creation because it is the easiest and most efficient means.

@ ED

In regards to the "Invalid Format" - Try closing AutoSketch before importing the DXF. Some of us received a similar error using AutoCAD. AutoCAD put some kind of "lock" on the file while it is still open.

In regards to the objects - Explode (if anything like AutoCAD) until all objects become basic objects (i.e. - a rectangle becomes four lines)
