T2 Engraving / Re: Using sketch to engrave and cut a medalian
« on: October 11, 2018, 03:06:23 PM »
are you doing a vector engrave? if so, you can turn the hatching on to "fill" it

for engraving and cutting at the same time, look into Sketch Plus. That allows you do to that all in one job. I can't tell you how because I have never used it

do a test piece at 100, 300, 500 and 700 and see what looks better. That is what i did with glass

you can also get some acrylic black paint (cheap stuff from walmart for $0.50/bottle) and put that on as the resist. It should wash off with hot water when you are done.

honestly, i know nothing about the machines, so will be unable to help you there.

If you are still going to use a grbl compatible controller and use T2, I might have a rotary for you. I am sure it will work on others, but T2 is what i know.

Mine: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2565273
Nottingham's: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2561227
Danowar's: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2626616

I have taken danowar's rotary and made it direct drive. I just haven't published it yet.

i have seen it, but i do not know how well our low powered laser will do with that.

If you are just doing text, is suggest going at 50 speed and at least 8-12 passes and see if that makes a mark. you can adjust from there

I sell to friends cheap. I sell at $5/coaster. That is probably like $1/hr after all the design fixing and whatnot. But if you are having fun, who cares!

Hahahaha. I see what you did there!
Yeah. It kinda is. Makes the other parts worthless without the chain for it. It wasn’t standard sized either

sorry about the late reply.
Please forgive me for the crude designs. I made these with TinkerCAD when I was first starting with 3D printing.

I will look more, but for the life of me, i cannot find the drag chain I used!

ThothLoki - for those of us who have a 3D printer will you share the files?

Ed, sure thing! I will have to find them all first. I took some from Thingiverse and custom made some back when I was using tinkercad. I will shoot you links and files later when I am at a computer and not on my phone

If you have a 3D printer, wire management is easy
