Laser Safety / Laser Safety
« on: February 17, 2017, 12:09:16 PM »
There is a lot of information about laser safety on the internet. For the safety of your eyes, Google and read about laser safety.

Everyone who buys, builds (option) and operates a laser machine is responsible for using it safely -- and -- is also responsible for the safety of others who are around the machine when it is in use.

By far the biggest safety issue is the wearing of laser safety goggles with the correct wave length rating for the laser diode they are using. If you buy another laser diode, you may also have to buy different laser safety goggles. I have 4 or 5 laser diodes but they are have the same wave length rating range so I can use the same safety goggles with any of them.

Another safety issue is to NEVER leave your laser machine running unattended! Never!

Normally $2500.00 now on sale for $1300.00.

https://darklylabs.com/product/emblaser-2/

They claim they can cut 6mm wood. Install a Z axis on your 250.00 KIY laser machine and use BCL (with z axis support) and cut 6mm wood too!

Rules / Signature Rules
« on: February 08, 2017, 11:21:47 AM »
Please do not advertise your business website, Facebook or any other social media links in your signature.

Do not include your phone number or email address.

Your first and optionally last name would be nice so everyone can associate a first name with a @username.

Exceptions: To help promote those who are developing software for these low power laser machines, I will allow developers of software targeted towards our machines to have websites and email addresses in their signatures, so users can contact them.

Thank you...

BenCutLaser / New BCL Support Requirements -- MUST READ
« on: January 28, 2017, 07:51:03 AM »
I continue to get emails from users who fail to provide me with enough information to help them. They basically send one line emails saying something like "BCL doesn't work on my PC, can you fix it?".

This then starts a mass exchange of emails, asking questions that they should have told me in their first email. A lot of wasted time and energy.

I'm now spending too much time on tech support therefore, I'm going to have to FORCE users to read the following post first and then follow the directions in it: http://benboxlaser.us/index.php/topic,1128.0.html

This post has been there for quite awhile but way too many users are either ignoring it or they just don't read it.

From this date forward, if you want technical support for BCL, you will have to provide ALL of the information in that post, otherwise I simply don't have the time to go back and forth with 10 emails trying to pull the information I need out of you. I am supporting too many users each day.

BenCutLaser / Stand alone BCL_VLM updated to 1.8.0 (CLOSED)
« on: January 18, 2017, 06:38:08 PM »
FYI -- the stand alone BCL_VLM which is just the gcode editor and the Virtual Laser Machine (VLM) has been updated to 1.8.0. The download link is in my signature below.

This software sells for $19.95 and is aimed at those users who want a great gcode editor (the best gcode editor for the money) to learn gcode with. I am planning on making a video tutorial on how to use this product and get started learning gcode.

Gearbest / Got the run around from Gearbest
« on: January 17, 2017, 05:13:40 PM »
I was asking Gearbest some questions about their new controller board and I was told to contact person A...person A told me to contact person B...person B told me to contact person C, until I got to person D, who tried to tell me to contact someone else and that's when I just finally gave up.

Apparently, no one in the company knows anything about their controller boards for their laser machines.

BenCutLaser / Texts Dots Per Inch: 32 (CLOSED)
« on: January 14, 2017, 05:50:19 PM »
As an FYI, I don't think you need more than 32 set for Text Dots Per Inch.

See attachment.

If you're using a number larger than 32, you're probably generating too much gcode that is not needed. Try cutting back to 32 and see how that works.

I've found 32 is a good number for me to laser Text objects.
