Benbox / Re: Benbox Interface Questions

Time = pulse width
Step = when manually jogging this is the distance
Carve Mode = either left to right (scan by line), or left-right-left in a serpentine (scan by Z) or outline only (no engraving)

Time - now that's the one I'm having trouble understanding honestly...pulse width means what?

Benbox / Benbox GCodes
« on: January 31, 2016, 05:32:31 PM »
I wanted to start this thread and collect gcodes for the various laser functions such as Intensity, Laser on and Laser off, etc.

One thing I found out from the factory is that there is no gcode to set the number of passes when making a line cut. This is because this laser was designed for engraving and not cutting.

However, this is very easy to implement in a CAM program using gcode so all is not lost!

Benbox / Benbox Interface Questions
« on: January 28, 2016, 06:19:02 PM »
I'm still trying to understand what the following items are/what they do in the Benbox interface:

1. Time - what does this setting do?
Update: The unit is milliseconds, which means the time for the Laser, for example, if you set 5, the laser will stay 5 ms on the wood for engraving.
Note: I am trying to get more details on this setting.

2. Step - I thought his controlled the number of passes the laser makes but apparently not. I thought if I set this to 3 and did a square cut, it would cut around the square 3 times but not so.

3. Carve Mode - what is this drop down list for? Does carve mean engrave?

4. What is the difference between the radio buttons Discrete and Continuous?
Discrete: draws one pixel each time.
Continuous: it draws several pixels each time.
The accuracy of Discrete is a bit higher than Continuous, however, it is still hard to recognize by the naked eye. There is not much difference between these two.

General Discussion / Welcome to Benbox Laser DIY Machines
« on: January 25, 2016, 07:49:22 PM »
This is a community support forum. This means that it is for folks who have purchased their laser machines from a seller outside of the US and may be having a difficult time getting support or timely support.

This website is not affiliated with any seller or company who actually sells this laser machine. It is an independent technical support website that is an additional resource to help you assemble your laser machine, get it up and running and to help answer your questions.

Please register to join our community.

Need help? Post a question.

Know an answer to someone's question? Post a response and help not just that one person, but many others who have the same question.

Learned a tip or trick during the assembly process? Please share with all of us.

Thank you for visiting this website and we hope you will register and become part of our community.

Note: I am the Administrator but I don't know everything about the Benbox DIY Laser either. I know some things but I too still have questions I can't find answers to or can't get answers from the factory.
