I would need to know alot more about your machine but just a guess, your power supply may be failing or inadequate for the task.

To answer your question as to why BCL doesn't support PDF files: PDF files are not drawing files. DXF files are drawing files. nottingham82 has already written a PDF->DXF converter. Have you used that to do your converting? T2 simply calls nottingham82's converter program to do the conversion. I have chosen not to go that route and instead rely on you to manually do the conversion.
Dont blame me Ralph! I think that program was written by agastar. I take no credit for any software.  I'm a hardware guy.

you can wow      :o    I  tried it but no joy in demo mode hmmm something not right here
You need a good setup software is only a small part. You need a perfect focus, air assist, and multiple passes. 6-9 for me at just the right speed. Once you get it dialed you can cut.

show me a Video of T2 cutting 3m wood ?

attached DXF

AND STILL THE SAME ERROR using your video .... mm... latin1 ...visible

I cut 3mm wood all the time with it. It's not my software and I don't make any money from it. So i may make a video on that topic if I feel like it if I ever find my GoPro.

T2 can load pdfs.

Upload your dxf so Ralph can inspect it to see the issue.

additionally you can review my dxf video for inkscape.... I dont use bcl but my settings might work for you. I skipped it ahead to the saving part.

General Discussion / Re: When does time start on Trial?
« on: January 07, 2018, 03:50:04 PM »
as soon as you open it.  at the end of the trial... it closes... then you can reopen it and your timer starts over.  It just prevents you from doing long projects.  But you can restart the program a million times if you want.

I dont know what board you have.  If it is the mana se, the button on the board is to turn on the power.  It would need to be on to operate the laser and you need to send the command from the software.  If it is an older L7 board, the button on the board is a low power mode so you can focus the laser.  It would need to be off (since it overrides the laser power) before you send the on command.

General Discussion / Re: Do I need Inkscape also or just T2?
« on: January 07, 2018, 03:46:51 PM »
no you dont need inkscape.  I use inkscape pretty regularly though.  I use it to create new art.  Make accurate vector files when I need to measure things and have it be as measured.  When I want to do multiple projects on one burn (ie 6 coaster with different designs all at once).  When I want to create a bw image from a color one and it isnt importing just right so I want more control.  But you can do most of that in t2 sketch.  I just got used to inkscape and its easier for me to draw things out in my nice warm office before running out to my freezing cold (you know like 50-60 degrees cuz its california) garage to start a burn.

3D Printer Software / Re: 3D Printer Slicers
« on: January 06, 2018, 08:20:02 PM »
under the filament settings tab at the top is a drop down.  Those are all your presets.  If you want a new one, you change the settings then hit the floppy disk to save it and then give it a name.

Same thing with the Print settings tab.  Hit the floppy disc and name it.

Then from the platter tab on the right is all your presets so you dont have to go to any other tabs once you have it set up.

Yes but once you have one you wonder what you did without it, always something you can fix or mod  8) not to mention the odd buck on the side.

slic3r isnt as pretty as cura but it is pretty intuitive.  I have found the generic filament settings work better than the specific brand settings for the prusa edition.  Other than that... just dig in... you'll get it.

General Discussion / Re: Ready to go. I've got questions
« on: January 02, 2018, 01:45:19 PM »
I've finally gotten the A3 together and I have 2 questions before I fire it up.
1). My laser is on the gantry on the side facing the control board because the wires coming off the laser are too short if I face it away from the control board  The video I watched had the laser on the gantry facing away from the control board. I got my 2 wire 2.5 watt laser from BangGood and have already extended the wire but I didn't put enough wire on it so it's too short if it's on the side away from the control board. . Will the way I have it work or do I have to extend the wires longer so it is on the gantry side facing the end with no board?

2). As I said it is a 2 wire laser so I did a 2 wire extension with a 2 wire JSC connection.  I believe it was recommended to plug that into the 2 wire motor connection on the board. Is that correct?  I'm curious how that works being plugged into the motor connection.

The motor attachment is a 12volt variable output. That is how the old control boards worked with 2 wire lasers. Don't worry that it says motor. It is designed for your two wire laser.
