What Can Be Cut? / Re: Laser Engraving Stainless Steel With Mustard.
« on: August 27, 2018, 09:06:25 PM »
Well, my traditional mustard is not working.
Tried two different objects
T2Laser, 50 speed, full power, 2.5w

***EDIT***
Did one with 3 passes, non stop. I got VERY minimal markings

Gonna try with dried mustard, different mustard and maybe some other pieces.
Will report back when able
Tried some dijon I had. Looked like it worked but wiped off. I'll grab see grey pupon tomorrow.

T2 Engraving / Re: What causes streaks?

I used your svg, changed the dxf export properties and it works in t2 just fine now.  here is the fixed dxf and an image of the proper inkscape properties.

have you flashed the firmware yet? using benbox wont give you any decent control over laser power.  Go into t2 laser.  Flash the firmware to grbl 1.1e then go back out to the main screen for t2 and go to help-samples-greyscale bar  Give that a try and see what sort of control you have using the current firmware and a software with the ability to control it.

EleksMaker Mana SE / New mana se version 3.1

http://store.eleksmaker.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=156

Looks like the new mana has pin outs for d9 and d10 for limit switches
12 v for a fan
5 v for 5 v things
ground so your head doesnt get too big
and several other pin outs.
Might just be the way to go for easy mods.  I'll get one and let you know what I think.

I would use any of these you mentioned if they would support svg files with that easy layer manipulation on those svg files. I mean maybe BCL has it, but it's gui is rather technical and I am trying to make it work for older person which would like to have everything as graphical represented as possible. But thank you for your support anyways. I'll ask on LaserWeb forum and will update you if I'll know anything new.

EDIT : With the help of one person from LaserWeb4 Google+ group I have managed to get it working, mostly. I still have this issue where laserweb is not listening to the settings of laser power and feed rate I put before generating GCode. It always go full speed and full power. Do you have any ideas why? In addition when I use LaserGRBL it behave as intended and my mahcine does respect the settings.
Have you looked at the gcode? It is fairly easy to read. It will have a location power speed.  Does it have the speed and power you input in the gcode?  If so then it could still be a firmware issue (but I doubt that). Or if the speed power is not correct for some reason the gcode is being generatated wrong.

Used your setting too. Only change  I did was set the speed to 80
Yeah 40 isn't necessary but I like to be sure. I don't want to have to redo it.

Yes. It should work as it looks like a standard board.
Wow they finally started cloning the Mana see boards.

Where are those mugs located in a Walmart?
For 0.07 res, what DPI do you export at?
Does the electro etch really help?
Do you just use mr clean eraser and water?

I plan on testing again now that my file is fixed.
I use the Mr clean with a dash of water. Buy extras because the wife will try to steal some and clean pans with them.

Electro etching just seems to bring the shine back to the metal. It isn't necessary.

They are merchanised weird. I've found them in seasonal, home goods with other travel mugs, sporting goods with water bottles, and camping. At the Walmart nearest me they are usually back near camping.

For .07 I just use 254 dpi and import at .1. Then once it is imported, I change to .07. If you do it in that order, the size will stay right. If you import with it set at .07 it will change the size of the image.

@Sir Nottingham - Good to see you active again. Available everywhere might be a slight exaggeration. Technology comes slow to my corner of the world.
Don't tell me you don't have a Walmart!!! Lol but seriously Walmart is one of the cheaper places to get one. Also I am aware of the double negative in the first sentence.

Can you describe the materials used, work flow, and recipe? Is the glass pre-coated? I'm jealous!!!
These are powder coated stainless steel mugs. Available everywhere these days. The laser removes the powder coat. I use speed of 40mm/min and a resolution of .07 so there is a slight overlap. Also I use a rotary device. I clean up the engraving with a Mr clean eraser. Then electro etch.

I think this turned out ok
Looks pixelated. Did you use a low res image? The etch looks good. Dark color mugs look best. I did a light green mug and it didn't provide enough contrast. I like black mugs best

Trouble Shooting / Re: Grbl 1.1f broke my laseraxe engraver ?
« on: August 05, 2018, 12:59:56 PM »
Hello I have a problem with my laseraxe engraver. I wanted to use Laserweb4 instead of CNCC software, and I've read that I should flash the grbl 1.1f - and so I did. Now my engraver is indeed recognizable in Laserweb4 and T2Laser but my engraver is now working only in one axis and only in one direction. When want it to move in Y axis no matter which direction it always go to the right, and when I try to move it in X axis it only makes quiet humming noise and nothing happens. Laser is working though. I also later flashed 1.1e wth t2 laser but effect is the same. Is there anything I can do or my board is bricked ?

I am very new to all this, I have this laser only for few days.

The engraver is 100x100cm 10W engraver I bought on aliexpress. The is Laseraxe.cncc.mini logo on the board, and the controller is Atmega 328p I think. There is very little potentiometer underneath the arduino controller.
Laseraxe uses special firmware. There is a firmware that should work in t2. It is labeled as laseraxe
