Must have software, tools and other fun programs
« on: February 02, 2016, 03:22:12 PM »
Arduino IDE, Grbl, Benbox, XLoader and WinAVR (obviously!).

1. Inkscape with raster-to-vector (engraving) and vector path (cutting) plug ins.
2. Grbl Controller (I prefer this to UGS)
---------- below are optional ----------
3. CAMotics, previously OpenSCAM as a GCode viewer (although not necessary)
4. Eleks G-Code Tool aka LX Easy (doesn't do anything you can't do in Inkscape)

It's the compiler for ATMEL chips, like the ATmega328P. You would use it to generate the hex firmware.

Hi Zax,

Which Inkscape plugins do you use for raster-to-vector (engraving) and vector path (cutting)?

I used the one from "305 Engineering" for raster and a modified version of the "J-Tech" for vector.

That was before T2Laser. Now I use TurboCAD for vector, it's simple to explode the graphics and save as DXF. You can do the same in Inkscape, use object to path and then extension / modify path / flatten beziers.
