COM port not recognized
« on: November 19, 2016, 07:54:17 AM »
If this is in the wrong area I apologize in advance. My issue is I have built the machine, 30x40 A3 2.5W from Banggood. I cannot get the computer to recognize the USB connection. I tried the Arduino software, and even tried the drivers in with Benbox, which will say installation failed. I am running Win10x64.

If its windows that says usb device not recognized then its  a hardware or driver issue, various softwares will probably not make a difference.

Try a different usb cable and port. Update your drivers. Try unseating the Arduino Nano module and see if its recognized when not connected to Eleks maker board.

I had this problem for a day and it turned out to be a faulty usb cable.  I replaced it and have no problems since.

Thanks for the welcome and the suggestions. Tried a new cable same results. The computer "sees" the device being plugged in but does not recognize it. I told them to shake hands but they ignored me. Tried the driver zip but the *.inf is missing for the x64 set up?? Do I need to manually move the inf files?

I have Windows 7 64-bit and it installed fine, think I just ran the setup in the main folder as admin but it was a while back so I may be incorrect.

What does it say in your device manager? Do you see the COM port at all, is it showing a red X or appears OK?

Finally connected. :-) thank you guys. Seems my wifi would not let the driver update?? so I plugged directly into the LAN and it updated the driver for USB2.0 device and now it sees the module. Next problem is the update firmware. I cannot read the chinese characters that come up whenever I click the checkmark. Everything else is in english. Do I assume that the firmware is finished updating?
Sorry for this ongoing troubles, I usually do not have problems like this with periferals. (Or spelling)

If it's successful you get a small check mark in the top bar (see image).

What error does XLoader report? Maybe we can decipher it and figure out the problem.

Are you making sure to select Nano as the board type?

Ok, once again many thanks for the help. All working now. Last time I think the operator was a little low on wine, so I drank a glass and got the stupid nanoloader right, Chalk that one to operator error, did not read the baud rate. Totally have to agree with all the posts on here about benbox not being user friendly. Thank ya'll.

Haha, just wait until you start using it. You may need a few more bottles!  ::)
