Is this normal? - Dual Dots.
« on: November 26, 2016, 12:39:51 PM »
Some of you may have seen my other posts mentioning I can no longer cut with my laser, which is really bugging me.
I have noticed that for quite some time, my lasers dot has another smaller dot next to it. I cant remember if it has always been like this or not though.
Could this be my issue? And does anyone elses look like this?
Anyone know what could cause this, and ho I can fix it?

It still engraves well, I can get a very fine line engraved with it, so that second dot it not powerful enough to engrave,
but still, thats unfocused light I am not getting to use.

Not normal, probably a defect in the lens or a reflection from somewhere.

:( well, damn. Thats kinda good and bad, least that would explain why I cant cut anymore.

Anyone know a place you can buy a replacement lens or lens and threaded head?

Just a small suggestion to the admins. ggallant, zax, and others have been very helpful but wouldn't it make it easier for folks if you made a sticky with parts supplier listings under the parts category??

There is the Spare Parts directory and anyone finding anything useful should put a website or address on it.........

Give the lens a good looking at and the interior of the laser as there might just be something in there that could be the cause...Chinese QC aint that all that good!!  and replace the lot and try again..it may have cleared.....Nothing to lose...

Most laser modules use the 9 X 0.5mm lens package.

Try for glass. The stock ones are single lens plastic. The three element glass need to be closer to the work than the single element.

Some people have had the lens get moved in the housing.

look into laser diode TEM modes, thats a TEM01 you are experiencing (just my 2c)
,nothing to do about that: thats a degeneration of the diode (lasered already long hours wih hthat diode?)

Really not sure how many hours I have on the laser, but not a TON, not enough that it should have been messing up.

Ordered a 2.3W TTL laser from Banggood, but they said it got sent back to them in customs, so had to reorder it.  >:(
