ok i drew an arrow to the thing you have to remove.  Pull it gently away from the board and there should be a little jumper underneath that looks like the other picture i attached.  move it to .9

Does this trace got to D11?

If so, you are good for Grbl >0.9

Does it have a MOSFET in addition to the relay?

It's behind the relay, near the laser connector (fairly sure).

MOSFET is the big power transistor. Usually has 3 pins and a solder tab. Pin 2 and the tab are connected internally and when the tab is soldered to the PCB pin 2 is usually cut short.

From the picture I could not tell which trace is connected to Pin 11 of the Nano.

d11 appears to be the NANO

If your laser is connected to D11 then it is already configured for 0.9.

Does your laser module have a small switch on it?

Do you know if the laser runs from 12V, on your original board it appears to say 5V. If so you may have problems with the new board you posted as it doesn't have a buck converter to provide the 5V output.

The MOSFET is an electronic switch of sorts (at least in this application) that is used to control the laser.

You should be ok as long as you plug every thing in correctly and install the firmware!
