Benbox is very slow compared to the defaults in T2Laser so it may just be settings. There's no reason the power wouldn't be the same since Grbl is using on or off only.

If you use the manual laser on do you get what appears to be full power?

You are right, Benbox only supports their old firmware.

Got it to cut the paper , increased the power .I also just trased a small photo and ran it, It ran great with the exception of the lines that burned when the laser was moving to a new spot. it would have ruined the project if it was important

If you run the same mode and relative feed the results should be identical.

To cut you would want to use vector, so either traced (called outline in Benbox) or importing a DXF etc. Then you adjust the feed rate, say 100 and then it should work as you expect.

I just tested and get the same results, so it will take either a revision to Grbl firmware or a change in T2Laser to allow your system to work correctly.

I've opened a Grbl issue for it to see if there's a workaround.

Response from the Grbl developer @chamnit: "Laser mode is not compatible without VARIABLE_SPINDLE. You get no benefit running Grbl this way. As for older boards hardwired for spindle enable on D12, I'm going to have to pass on this. VARIABLE_SPINDLE was introduced a couple of years ago and is the standard build. It's going to take a lot more work than I'd want for laser mode to work with VARIABLE_SPINDLE disabled. It was designed specifically to work with it. At some point, I just have to say no. It's not worth."

I guess we're in uncharted territory now.  :o

Your best bet seems to be modifying the existing board or replacing it, you can get Benbox to work with D11 by changing the pin assignment in settings to make it easy to switch between programs but you would still need to change firmware.

Zax I have received my new board, can you look at it and tell me if just installing it on the machine and plugging in the harnesses is needed , also what position should the pins under the nano board be in

It looks like the jumper is set on 0.9 so that's good, and you have it set for laser mode.

The only thing to check would be the directions for the motors, I am not sure but may need to swap one of the Y-axis motors to reverse it so they aren't fighting against each other.

Where did you get that board?]

Well I want one... link?

I'm guessing it's this: http://www.banggood.com/3-Axis-Stepper-Motor-Driver-Board-Controller-Laser-board-For-DIY-Laser-Engraver-p-1015947.html?rmmds=search

It doesn't look the same but they don't always ship what you see... it's a guessing game.

Update: Now I'm really confused, reading the reviews I think they're sending the one pictured and not what you have. How long ago did you order it?

My turn....

After 2 days, finally got the axis to move smoothly.. still haven't figured out where "home" is. Laser light always on.. but will not cut/burn.

I have flashed 1.1e using Xloader. I and Using T2Laser. Everything seems to work, sends the code, etc. everything moves, but no burn.

ElekMaker Mensa SE board. and no 8/9 jumper underneath the Nano. Just a Pot that says 8R9

Now what...

How do you have the laser connected?

You should have the S pin connected to the TTL+ and the others to the laser power.

I plugged the connector in, the only way it fit. on both the board and the LASER.

The 1.1e you used, was that from T2Laser?
