It loads for me, but it looks kinda messy  ::)

Perhaps you have an old version of T2Laser before it supported splines, as the only entities in your file are splines.

Edit: verified with Inkscape and TurboCAD, both look the same.

So I open my file in Inkscape, then I trace Bitmap, then i set my size. And saves as .dxf.

Is that the right procedure.

Here is the image im using that im trying to engrave.

You obviously didn't import the DXF, that's exactly how it looks. That is the traced vector, what you are looking at is a raster or pseudo raster using filled vectors.

It isn't a question of making it suitable for T2Laser, you are just creating a DXF vector file.

If you re-open your file in any program (including Inkscape) it will look the same, you are seeing the result of your image being traced or converted from raster to vector. It won't look the same and will need some additional work in Inkscape to clean up the result.

@Zax, my 2 cents because I get these same questions from users trying to load a .dxf into BenCutLaser:

1. The drawing has no Units of Measurement set at all. Users should always check their dxf files and make sure that a Unit is set. BCL won't initially load a drawing with unknown Units.

2. The drawing was done using an AutoCAD format older than 16 years. Users should save it to a more recent AutoCAD version such as 12 or 13.

ohhh that makes sense ralph.  I  hadnt had luck until recently with dxf so i was using pdf and i just realized that dxf working coincided with me changing everything to mm as soon as I open inkscape.

T2Laser will handle the no units and older format issues, as I showed it imported correctly just not what he wanted.

I verified with multiple other programs including AutoCAD's own viewer, TurboCAD and Inkscape and the result is the same.
