Show me your grayscale!!!!
« on: December 19, 2016, 03:15:41 PM »
Is anyone doing anything in grayscale? any tips on setup? I currently have the a3 frame with the 2w ttl laser added on. Im running t2laser and loving the features. it takes sooooooo long to actually engrave any raster images that using trial and error to experiment in grayscale would take weeks! Maybe some of the veterans could share some tips and show off their work?????

Here are some greyscale images done on wood and slate with T2L.
I don't have the settings with me so I can't give you those but they should be here on the forum somewhere.

With a 5.5w module and T2 I'm doing 2000 at 0-255 and resolution 0.2 for engraving 13x10 cm photos on poplar ply. Looks good. (I don't have any at hand)
I guess you might go a bit slower then 2000 as your laser is weaker, but I guess not too much, as your focus point is smaller.

The second one is a 100mm slate coaster.  They can be found at michaels craft store for $3 for 4.  I did almost all my christmas presents on slate.  It turns out great.  There is a whole thread agastar and i wrote on the topic.

HAHA! I'm still alive aren't I? LOL.

I got extremely lucky with the settings. His laser uses coreldraw to control it and when I clicked on the engraving button, it was set at 400mm/sec and the power on the laser was set to 13 watts. The only thing I adjusted was the resolution from 2 to 3. I'm not familiar with Coreldraw but the way he explained it to me, it works the same as the resolution we use in T2L and a setting of 3 means more space between each laser pass.

I also like the Dobby. Etched in wood. Now using it as the test pattern for slate coasters.
