Engraving for a friend
« on: December 26, 2016, 06:36:38 PM »
Hello!  Made my first project using the laser engraver.  This is her favorite pokemon character, that after I engraved, inlayed some acrylic paint.  I had a few issues with it not burning through the harder densities of the grain of the wood (still need some pactice!) so I had to go in and paint that by hand.  After I sanded, routed the edges with an ogee bit and applied a polyurethane coating.  I'm excited to create more projects soon! The first image is what came out of the engraver, the second is the final result.

Thank you very much!  I was a little worried, you know how it is when you're trying a new technique for the first time, but over all I am happy with it and am waiting to hear if my friend likes it when she receives it in the mail.
