Dithered Engraving
« on: January 01, 2017, 02:39:57 PM »
Hey all. I just engraved a picture. It did not turn out exactly the way I wanted. If anybody could offer up some helpful criticism to help the next picture be better, I would appreciate it.

Software: T2
Speed: 600/2000
Size: 150x~200 (pretty much maxed my A5 out)
Laser: 2000mw
Style: Dithered
Laser: A5 2000mw
OS: Windows 10
Software: T2L
Image Resizer Application: http://benboxlaser.us/index.php/topic,1434.msg20182.html#msg20182

What resolution did you use?

Did you scale the image up/down a lot? It looks like you've got some banding which may be a result of that.

Sorry. I should have said that.
Resolution: 0.2

I did resize it a bit. The original about twice the size

It definitely has moiré interference patterns, these can usually be eliminated by slightly changing the size or resolution.

So instead of 150 x 200, if you use 149 x 198 it may help. I would also suggest a higher resolution, perhaps 0.15 but of course it will take longer.

I will try that. Thanks Zax. And a correction to my earlier post. The original picture is 166.6 by 211.8

I also went against the grain on the wood. Again I should have mentioned that and that the wood is craft plywood 6mm

Take longer? No problem. That one only took 3 hours 59 minutes  ;D in 27 degree garage.

It may even be banding from the wood, but I think it can be improved.
