I tested the 2500mW alongside my 2W TTL module using a power meter and got almost identical results.
I have idea to prepare laser and test what current is on the laser side. It is really interesting what parameters are given for this laser from china. Maybe and it is the better if it is true - there is NDB7875 3W laser inside what is working on wrong parameters. But it is only my fantasy  ;D
Here is info about that laser diode preparation. Banggood says: it works with 1,3A current, but this current give only 1,8W light power.

I can almost guarantee it is not a 3W. They are most likely over driving a 1.8W diode, which isn't that unusual but life time is a trade off.

Zax, when you say you tested with a power meter, are you using a conventional electrical power meter measuring input electrical power to the laser or are you measuring optical power from the output of the laser using a dedicated laser optical power meter?

I tested it with a Coherent LabMax power meter. The standard 2500mW was within 50mW of the 2W TTL.

The meter doesn't take into consideration the spot size, but the 2W TTL is smaller so actually cuts better. I usually de-focus for engraving so this isn't as important but the very precise power control is, and setting power to 5 makes it so easy to focus or check locations.

Can I ask a newbie question?  What's TTL and why would it be preferred over non TTL?
