First Vector Engraving
« on: January 06, 2017, 09:03:27 AM »
Hey all,

These are my first attempts at converting a file I mad into a vector instead of raster. I wanted to do that because it cut down about 4 hours of laser time.
I followed Zax's way of converting a picture to vector in Inkscape and it worked very well. One question I do have is my file shows that the outside border is full black while it only engraved the outside of the border without filling it in. Any way to fix that?

Please excuse the wavy and uneven lines. During these burns, I found out my X axis belt is loose. It was -10*F in my garage, so fixing it at this time is unlikely. Plus, these are for a fishing trip I am going on, so what if they are a little crooked? Are we all  ;D?

Looks good, with fishing comes drinking so the lines may look straight after a few!

To add a pseudo fill you can use the eggbot script or just add additional lines.

Thanks Zax. I just installed eggbot and will have play around with it.

My thoughts exactly. If they want straight lines, they can get a sharpie.

Guess I didn't know "Top Hooker" was related to fishing.

Well, the awards were received very well. Everybody loved them. I am now making more for one of the guys on my fishing trip for a company trip He has coming up. Not a bad deal. Two awards for two customized Yeti cups. I call that a fair deal  8)
