Fonts are designed for screen or printers, which don't care if the outline is closed or if there are node loops. When it comes to cutting (tracing around the path) these issues cause problems.

If you check the "View" screen, what is shown there is exactly what will be sent to the laser. So that will tell you if it's a machine issue or something to do with the font.

Did a few more bits today and the png files are not too bad.

This one on the back of a ruler case.

Going to get some test materials at the weekend (wood, slate).

Have some T2 questions which I will ask in its relative Category.

hey tony.  I am the resident slate proponent.  Cheapest I have found slate is at Michaels craft store.  Dunno if one of those is near you.  I get 4 coasters for $2.98 or so.  Settings for me are speed 1500 mm/min resolution .1 and power 255
