grey scale issue (solved)
« on: February 18, 2017, 03:36:50 AM »
Hi, I recently purchase an A5 2.5mW from gearbest. I moved the pin to 0.9V and updated GRBL 1.1c and I'm running T2Laser trial version cause I would like to use the PWM.

I'm trying to engrave a gray scale image but there is a problem with the second-last dark grey which is rendered like a light gray. I used 1000, 2000 and 3000 speeds with min laser power of 100 and a 255 max (under 100 only the darkest grey is cutted, 2 or three at max).
Any suggestions?

Thanks

It sounds like an anomaly with your laser module. You should get better results using dithered or Velocity mode.

Thanks for the reply.

The anomaly is that I must start at 100 power or the dark Grey error?

Using the other methods will fix that, in particular Velocity mode is excellent once configured.

I tryed velocity mode, but it simply eliminates the gray scale at all... any suggestions on the settings to use?

Did you set the feed rates correctly?

Rapid feed need to be set to a light grey and the standard feed rate to black, then you'll get a nice true grey scale.

and how can I set different feed rates? It gives me only one option to set

depending on what version of T2 you are using. Right click and Left click on the feed rate icon and you will get the laser feed rate (left) and rapid feed rate (right).

T2 version "x" has made changes that makes it a lot easier.

Ohhh ::) ::) ::) ;D I will never find it alone!

So, if I understood correctly velocity mode keeps the laser power constant and vary the speed, right?

Yes, that's correct.

It takes a little bit more setting up but actually works better in some cases.
