While I have not received my LaserAxe controller board yet, you should be able to flash it like any other controller board. Use any software you want to flash it: T2Laser, BCL, XLoader, etc.

the question is do i need some special file or just normal grbl hex
the CNCC software is crap, pure and simple, want to try the T2 but prefer to not kill the only controller I have at the moment

All you need is the desired Grbl .hex file, what ever that is, that you want to flash.

If I understand your question, you want to flash the factory LaserAxe Grbl .hex file right? If yes, then just select that specific .hex file and flash it.

Once again, you can use any software to do that, that can flash: T2, BCL, XLoader, etc.

One of the forum users (@mdoolin) switched over to using an Eleks board and was kind enough to mail me his LaserAxe board to have a look at.

When I connected, the welcome message said: Grbl 0.8 so I knew the firmware was old and out of date.

I was able to easily flash Grbl 1.1e onto the board without any problems.

Like @Zax's T2 Laser software, BCL runs fine with Grbl 1.1e.

I guess I'm an idiot because I don't have a problem with the cncc software for what I am doing.... 😞

I don't mess with grayscale images (takes way to long to render and burn in cncc with acceptable results).

I've been away from this forum for a bit working on stuff. Seems you can sell stuff as fast as you burn it. Just FYI, I started with a 2.5w 35cmx50cm diy machine off of AliExpress. After 6 months of heavy use, the 2.5w laser head started having a power drop off...i.e. What used to be burnt on a 10% power setting now took a 80% power setting...but alas, it worked enough to easily pay for its replacement.

The 2.8w laser head is much better and is showing no signs of power loss after 6 months of even heavier use. I run 13.5x18" burns taking up to 4 hours or so of continous burn time.

I guess since I learned on the cncc program I like it because it is all I really know (except a brief experiment with the benbox software on a second machine - 🤢)

Anyway, I'll attach pics of some stuff I've done with the cncc software.
