Free Box Maker software

These two sites will generate a box design for you and allow you to download the drawings.

http://www.makercase.com/ delivers a SVG file
http://boxdesigner.connectionlab.org/ Delivers a PDF file

This service will convert file types although BCL will not accept their dxf output, say's it is a file format older than AutoCad2000 which it uses far too often I think.
https://cloudconvert.com/svg-to-anything It is a free service for limited use.

All you have to do with an pre-2000 dxf file is open it in your CAD software and do a save as to a newer format and then BCL will be able to use it.

Ralph,

Every time I do that, the 2000 complaint goes away but when I reload the 'filtered' file, without fail, I then get an error message that "No supported Drawing Objects Were Found."

This happens if I open it in Adobe Illustrator as well. I am looking around the shop for some other CAD program that might do a good conversion. TurboCAD, AutoCAD, BobCAD, Inkscape or something else off the Internet.

I do know something is 'wrong' with the files as if I bring them into my 3D CAD program as a DXF or DWG into a 2D drawing page, I should be able to copy the drawing elements from the 2D space and paste them in the 3D sketch face to turn them into a 3D object. The CAD program will let me highlight the 2D objects but will not copy them either. They don't 'act' correctly in Illustrator either.

This has also applied to every DXF file I've found on the Internet such as those offered for use on commercial laser, plasma and water jet cutters.
On the other hand, if I model something in my 3D CAD and then export a 2D representation as a DXF, BCL readily accepts the file.

So BCL works perfectly for the reason I purchased a license, to cut gasket material drawn in CAD for engines. But it would be nice to be able to cut some decorative things to impress SWMBO.

So no complaints about what I licensed.

I use QCAD and LibreCAD...both will save a dxf file in a format newer than year 2000 and thus avoid that error. I can't get around that error because the library I use for dxf files has that limitation so I'm stuck with it myself!
