You could laser etch some nonsensical symbols on it and say it is proof of you abduction by aliens. No-one would dispute it.

well i managed to extricate the hot end. Ripped the wires out of it though.  The best technique I found was to partially disassemble.  Heat the hot end and wait till the pla around the hot end liquefied.  However the wires were still firmly stuck and I ripped them trying to get it out.  Didnt want to wait for prusa spares so I ordered some e3d parts from amazon.  Should be here friday.

The first layer looked good then I think it lost adhesion to the bed. I may have needed to clean the bed before the print.

I see, before I got my machine I read all these stories and solutions with glass plates, hair spray, glues etc.

Never needed any of those on my system, it just works... gotta love that! Of course I've only done PLA and some soft flex materials so far but that's all I need for now.

I had similar happen. It was printing the tenth or so layer and looked good. Made a run to the store about twenty minutes. It had let loose and built up a clump on the extruder just as yours had.

What I have seen is you get a rough spot in the print. The extruder bangs over that spot shaking the print. Eventually it shakes the print loose. The print sticks to the extruder and follows it. The filament builds back onto the extruder and sticks.

Al I had to do was heat the extruder and pull the mess off. I had to order a insulating sock for the extruder as it was filled with plastic. Cost me about $10.

The lesson here is that you just cannot leave these 3D printers on their own. They are like a kid, they only behave when they are being watched. The same with our other CNC based hobbies, like Lasers and mills and lathes. They have to be under supervision in case something goes wrong!

I ALWAYS wipe my print surface with IPA just prior to printing to make sure that I don't have any finger grease to mess things up. I got a spray bottle of IPA at CVS, spray it on and wipe down with a clean paper towel.

cool is simply a subjective state of mind
