haha yeah christmas deadlines are what pushed my experience with inkscape.  after you use trace bitmap you get a vector which can be scaled up.  However it may be so bad that you need to recreate it yourself.  Usually text is what I have to throw out.  They dont trace well.

I may have questions for you on this one. It is a fire fighting patch want to see what I can do before I get stuck though.

I am pretty much caught up now. Just need some paint on a few then time to go jingle the collection bucket.

nottingham. Is there any way to make this usable? I want to make a coaster with it. I have tried Inkscape and a few others but cannot get the right settings down.

Downloaded gimp and had a quick go, rescaled to a 3" diameter, you need to set the image size correctly .. to do that you need to know the required diameter, so I guessed at a little under 3".

Then applied the unsharpen mask with a radius of 50 and converted to png.
It is not perfect but a lot better than the original.
You need a better, non jpg source.

Thanks. I am going to try it and see if I can recreate what you did.

Sadly, that is the only source online and the best I could get.

'unsharpen' is in the Enhance filter section.

I wrote the code for a series of fume cabinet controllers and clients are always wanting company logos added to the touch screen.
They always seem to give me garbage resolution jpegs pulled off of a damn website somewhere that I have to process the he** out if.
Damn people, get in touch with the graphic designer for gods sake, simeobody, somewhere has a high res lossless format image.

tell me what the heck the thing on the right is and i can replace that too.  Most of it had to be deleted and I used some stock images to replace what I could.

And of course that type of nozzle is not the standard one that is used for firefighters. I found a picture of one that I am attempting to trace
