They mention they can be a replacement for PicEngrave and T2Laser on their website.

Let me mention that I had a very bad experience with the author of PicLaser. That company is a father and son operation. I contacted them for support on their Trial version and I was actually going to purchase a license until I got a very nasty and very rude response from the developer. Lost sale and fast uninstall...!!!

It looks like laserGrbl doesn't work with DXF files. Only g-code that is ready to send to your laser machine or it can work with directly loaded images.

It's made by a company in Russia.

I had the same experience from the PicLaser folks, which got the same reaction!

I just downloaded the setup.exe for LaserGrbl and it was immediately removed by Symantec protection suite, before I could even get to the download folder to click on it. I also got the source code so will take a look and see what's going on.

Setup.exe is a very bad choice to name an install file.

I have the same behavior @Zax but then I ran it with Admin rights and it installed OK.

yeah i got the same blue screen of warning I got from t2 but it let me override.  It is pretty basic.  Not much too it but it does let you dither and vectorize and raster an image with some basic essential edits.  I dont think it would replace t2 as my go to engraving software but it looks functional.  I dont have it hooked to my machine yet so i havent seen how well it talks to the nano but that usually isnt a problem.

Symantec detected malware, but sometimes it can be be confused with legitimate code. I do not get that with T2Laser, just the usual Windows protection because it isn't a code signed application.

I would, there's no disadvantage unless you're using software that doesn't support it.

Hi all, I am the developer of LaserGRBL.

As someone already say my software is sometime reported as suspicius by firewall or antivirus.
This is because of 3 reasons: missing of digital signature, access to internet, needs of admin privilege.

Internet access and admin privilege are needed for "auto update" feature. Digital signature needs a certificate that could be only released by a certification authority under payment.

As LaserGRBL is a free program developed in my spare time and shared with people that can enjoy using it, I will never decide to pay someone that certify my program is not a virus. You trust me? You can click "install anyway". You don't trust... not my problem.

As for the ability to load DXF, PLT and SVG, they are all features that I would like to include in LaserGRBL and are already in the roadmap. Anyway I can not spend all my free time on this project, so I can not predict if and when I can add these features.

In these days I'm working implementing a WiFi link through ESP8266

My apologies...I saw some screen shots in Russian language...but I can't find them again.

Thanks for clarifying.

I wonder if there is something "off" with Symantec. You have posted that elekscam got similar results. I was concerned so I ran elekscam through kepersky and windows essentails and the free trial of symantec with no warnings.  I trust your computer know how, and thanks for the warnings.

It's probably a false positive due to some code that is similar to malware, possibly from one of the packaged dll's that the program uses. That said, I chose not to install either as I don't have the time to thoroughly test them on a firewalled system.
