Eleksmark A3 Greyscale
« on: August 12, 2017, 12:29:23 PM »
Has anyone successfully done a greyscale burn on wood with the A3 2.5W laser engraver using T2Laser Software, I have tried many different setups and it never presents a true Greyscale image, so I am wondering if I am doing something wrong or is the machine just capable of doing true greyscale.

You can achieve excellent grey scale burns with any laser, even if it's a non-TTL (2-wire) module.

If it's a TTL module (3-wire) it should be producing grey scale with the default parameters, or with a non-TTL I would recommend Velocity mode to get the best results.

Show us what you are getting and we can help.

Thanks guys I will check these out later.  I am no longer using T2 at this time because my desktop sh** the bed and I don't have the funds to pay for the transfer license right now.  I am using a free program called Laser GRBL and it is working okay, it's missing a few of the things I got used to with T2 but I really haven't gotten an oppurtunity to play with it yet.  Hopefully this weekend.

Okay so I followed some of the steps outlined in the above posts.  Here is the outcome.

Using T2 the settings were...
Velocity and Photo Mode
Dithered
Feed Rate (e) 1500
Feed Rate (v) 1500
Rapid Feed Rate 2250

Laser Power 0 - 200

Resolution is 0.1
Please let me know if I am forgetting something.  This is for an important project and I need to nail it.

Are you using the latest version of T2Laser? v1.4t

Use 255 for Laser Max.

Don't manually enable Photo Mode.

If you have a TTL laser use Grey Scale otherwise use either Velocity Mode or Dithered, not both.

Yes, I have the latest version uploaded.

I am using an A3 2.5W laser.  Is that a TTL?

Yes, I have the latest version uploaded.

I am using an A3 2.5W laser.  Is that a TTL?

3 wires from the laser is ttl
2 wires is not

The image has very low contrast, try this version in grey scale mode.

Here is the latest burn using the new high contrast image and also another that I was trying to see if it would work.

I can't tell if it's your machine not operating in TTL mode correctly or the material, perhaps you should see if Velocity Mode will produce better results.

Something isn't making sense, if you use Velocity mode and set the feed rate to give a dark black and rapid for the white you should be seeing at least 3 shades - the dark border, the inside and the white. Everything you've posted looks black and white, except the dithered which is actually black and white as well.

Zax -
I am going to try the test pattern in a little bit, can you tell me what is the best set up I should have so that I can do it correctly?
