In inkscape there is a tool called trace bitmap.  It allows you to turn an image into lines.  Its finiky and can be a bit of a pain but it can be helpful

You can trace it with T2Laser, it has several options and usually does a good job. If you import a DXF from Inkscape it's a good idea to use my DXF Optimizer.

goede dag longhenk,
I usually work the image in inkscape / paintDOTnet or similar to get good contrast, then import it into T2Laser and use the 'trace' function for the best results. Working with pictures is not the easiest and for me at least requires a large pint of patience!
Are you trying to cut the foam with the pen / camera shape (for storage solutions in the foam) or are you trying to engrave the image?
If it is just the outline, try taking black / white pictures with plenty of light to get good contrast, this way you get better definition on the outline of the shape. If it is the latter then you need to play around with the software more to get good greyscale. The best way to learn is to give it a go, you will get where you want to in the end!
tot ziens,
Ki.

There should be more than one type of dxf format you can save to. Try to go for R14. I will double check when I get home
