Benbox Laser not burning
« on: November 24, 2017, 02:45:08 AM »
Running my laser on benbox 3.7.99 and have been successfully burning images for four months.
Last burned an image 2 days ago. Today, laser won't burn.
Everything is working as normal, laser on, steppers working, just can't get a burn.
Have re-installed benbox software and firmware, but still have no 'burn'.
Any idea as to what's going on?

By laser ON do you mean weak? If so, is there a "weak" laser button on the top of the laser module?

Well, sorry to read that, but even though there is a wealth of knowledge and experience on this board a few important details that would assist in addressing your issue are missing:

What control board are you using?
What laser are you using?

time to break out the multi meter.  If you get 12 v at the laser and its still not full power then its a dead diode and you need to replace the laser.  If you dont get 12 v at the laser you may have a failing power supply or a short circuit on the board.

Hi. Got my partner to test if 12v were running to the laser. Nope.
Was told to try the laser running 12v direct to it. Tried with 12v direct power and laser stopped producing a beam, although the fan on the laser still worked.
The board is a nano board and a 3000mw laser.
Tried to burn an image, all motors, fan etc were still working, but nothing from the actual laser. No beam.

Who told you to run 12v directly to the laser diode? Your diode is probably shot now.

The controller board runs 12v to the laser module and the little circuit board on it regulates the voltage and current to the diode. Most diodes can only take 5v
