The value of power tools can not be saved (RESOLVED)
« on: January 03, 2018, 01:39:03 PM »
Hi All !
I have some problems with BCL.

1.   The value of power tools can not be saved.
I set the desired value, for example, to 80%. I leave the program. When I restart the value back to 100% in every case.

2.   Different power values can not be set.
For example, if I change the cut value to 80% then the grawe will also be 80%.
If I set the grawe value to 50% then the cut value will also change to 50.

3.   The Job timer does not work continuously.
Sometimes it jump to a value and will not count for a while again.

4.   The STOP button is delayed.
When I press the STOP button, 10-15 seconds will elapse until the stop.

I have 28.a BCL
Win7 64 bit
EleksMaker  Mana SE

Regarding items:

#1 There was a bug in the laser tool power setting. I have fixed this and will release 2.8b in a few hours.

#2 You cannot use a laser tool to cut with and also use the same tool to do engravings. If you define a laser tool to do engravings, then do not use it to cut with. If you define a tool to cut, do not use to do engravings. That's why you have the ability to create as many laser tools as you need. Each tool does one specific job.

#3 The timer is an approximation tool. If you are doing intense BCL operations, your CPU time slicing may not give enough time to the timer object and this will affect the time results. What were you doing when you observed the timer not keeping accurate time?

#4 This is because there may be g-code commands waiting in the controller board CPU buffer. The time delay to Stop will vary depending on what g-code command(s) are in the buffer and how long they take to flush out.

Thank you Ralph !

Everything is clear except # 2.
The BCL tutorial # 3 shows the following:

That's what I like.

The tutorial was made before BCL supported engravings.

If you're using a laser tool for engraving, then you have to just ignore those other 'cutting' GUI objects. You should create your laser tools with meaningful names so you know if a tool is for engraving or for cutting. BCL doesn't know how you plan to use your tool so you have to ignore the square, circle, etc. test shape radio buttons on the Test Shapes Tab and the right side 'Tool Parameters' group box for a tool that was calibrated for engravings.

Let me know if this is still not clear to  you.

Hi  Ralph !
I think we totally misunderstand each other.
Engraving means for me that I engraving a letter or number for the identification of the airplane fuselage former or a wing rib.
This does not need 100% power only 50%.
But if I set this, the power level of all materials will change to 50%.
In other words, you can not set different levels of power for different materials.
This worked on version 2.6 but not 2.8.
This is my problem.

That bug has been fixed in 2.9a. Download and install BCL version 2.9a.

Let me know if that works for you.
