motor belt pulley 20 versus 60 tooth

if I use a 60 tooth pulley on my motors is there a speed variance from the normal 20 tooth
the reason for asking is that I am thinking on going to about 1 meter square format size
and if so how would I calculate it to get approx. speeds

In your GRBL user parameters there are three entries that describe the STEPS PER MM on your fixture. The firmware uses these entries along with requested speed and distance to pulse the stepper motors. A typical stepper motor operates at 200 steps per revolution. The stepper motor driver often supports micro stepping (1 to 16) which also needs to be accounted for.

Changing to a larger drive pulley would increase the maximum speed at the expense of resolution. I personally prefer the better resolution.

Which is why I went from a 20 tooth to a 16 tooth in mine.

where do I find the gbrl settings or where can I find an article to read up on
under my present set up when I put in 1000mm as my height  it said 2400+ mins
what would be a good compromise gearing to suit the larger sizes

T2Laser has a calibration option, it makes setting the steps/mm very easy, just draw the 100mm square and measure it, input the values and hey presto it's done! Since it updates your Nano you can use it in the trial and then run whatever program you like.
