Cable lenght vs Power lost
« on: February 07, 2018, 01:34:49 AM »
hi i am actually just ready with my selfmate  M140 2 Watt Diode / Lasermodule, I have the laser on a 5 Wire Cable like the one we used for PS2 8 Pin / or Midi / RS232
the length is about 50cm and then it goes to the Driverboard  TTL mounted outside of the Housing.

now I am unsure if I loss to much power having the Driverboard not near the Laser??

Some say the TTlBoard cables must be short as possible with a minimal diameter ?

Kindly Moritz

The diode driver is current regulated, it won't matter that you have a small voltage loss in the cable (which would be negligible anyway).

The losses would be greater with "minimal diameter" wire assuming the same conductor material and type.
