Looking for advice
« on: March 18, 2018, 02:20:55 AM »
Hello everyone,

I have tried to engrave several photos.

I have tried on mdf and a white tile painted black though I always end up with these diagonal lines going through it.

I am engraving at 2600, 20 255, 0.15.

I cant figure,

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated,

Regards,

Anthony.C

Have you tried the "known" test patterns?

I am far from an expert in these matters but does it do this with ever picture or just this one? This would help se if it is software or mechanical related..

Hey,

It happens with every picture.

If I do the test circle and test squares they come out perfect.

I measure the dimensions and they are 100mm.

What is your laser wattage? Try cutting the speed in half. You could also run the picture thru a image processor (photoshop, GIMP) to enhance the darks and lighten the whites.

For testing I like to use colored card stock because it is cheap and etches easily.

Are only using diagonal method or did you try it horizontally as well?

It could be backlash or you need to lower the resolution (although 0.15 should be fine), I would test using horizontal engraving to see how that looks.

I also think your resolution setting is too large...0.15 to 0.20 should work fine...

Hey,

I thought I'd simulate it in the G-Code Viewer and its the same as what it prints.

I checked all screws no wobbles or anything I refocused the laser.

But all i can find is this in the G-Code Viewer.

I have worked it out :D

I was scaling photo inside T2 and it was causing all the lines to appear.

Thank you for everyone's efforts :)

Scaling in T2Laser won't cause lines, what you are seeing is just a moire pattern due to the screen resolution. The output would be correct, change the size of the "view" window and you will see what I mean.

Hey Zax,

I can't explain why it worked.

I did everything the same as before other than not scaling it in T2.

I just did a engraver now and it was perfect.

Sorry.
