Laser stopped working (beam too weak).
« on: April 18, 2018, 09:48:58 AM »
Hello everyone,

not long ago I have bought this 0.5W laser engraver and after making only 3-4 small engravings(like single letters on a cardboard piece) the laser stopped engraving. The beam became very weak, I can barely see the laser dot in daylight. I haven't changed any settings, I haven't touched anything. I was just trying to engrave a small "0" and it failed in the middle of the process. Here is a link to a small video showing how it looks now.

I have contacted the seller, he gave me a refund but couldn't identify the problem. Can you guys give me an idea what could be the problem? I am guessing it's either the control board or the laser itself but how can I be sure?

Any kind of help will be greatly appreciated.

1. Completely out of focus.
2. Lens moved.
3. Diode fried.
4. Driver board fried.
5. Weak laser function enabled.
6. Software stuck on low power.
7. Power supply died.
8. User error.

Lots of users on this forum have experienced similar problems. First step for me would be check the electrical signals and power consumption.
