Grid and automatic home
« on: April 30, 2018, 10:23:12 AM »
Hey! Sorry for all of the newb questions but...I have two more...lol

1. Anyone have any good ideas for adding a grid to an Eleksmaker A3? I am going to be working on a lot of small things and have realized that adding a grid would help me out tremendously with lining up my projects and save me a ton of time.

2. How do I set a home in the T2 software? I have moved it and set the home option within the software but when the laser finishes engraving wherever it stops will be the new "home" the next time I start up the software. I would like for it to start dead center and go back there once the cutting or engraving has been completed.

I really appreciate all of your responses and everyone's time.

You need to add physical home switches.

Use 2 normally open micro-switches at lower left (one for each axis) and wire them in parallel between D9 and Ground.

Enable home switches in the settings menu and enjoy!

You will now be able to use the grid or jigs and setup custom positions from the presets menu.

Where can I get them? Same place that I got the laser (banggood.com)? Any in particular that you would recommend?

Pretty much any microswitches would work; eBay, banggood or if you have an electronics place locally.

There are dozens posts in the forum about adding homing switches. One of those should help you decide which switches you want and how to wire them up.

They can very accurately, within a thousandth or two, reset position with the right switches and the right speeds.
