Compatible Lasers
« on: September 06, 2018, 09:03:01 AM »
Hi Zax.

I use your T2 software with my 2.5 watt diode laser and find it excellent. I am now buying a 40 watt co2 laser and wondered if I would still be able to use T2 to control it? I apparently uses a M2 Nano control board and is very similar to the Chinese K40 machine.

Thanks for your help.

Steve.

As long as the board uses GRBL you can use T2
Laser: A5 2000mw with L7 Board / A3 2500mw PWM with Mana SE -- All using T2Laser
3D Printer: Monoprice Maker Select v2.1

T2Laser will work with Grbl and export G-code which works with most other systems, however, I don't think the M2 board supports either of these. As far as I know it's a proprietary board that only works with their driver.

I put a Cohesion3D board in my K40 and you can use T2Laser with that board.
http://cohesion3d.com/

I use this board with one of my diode laser (OpenBuilds ACRO) systems as well.
Laser: was an A3 2.0w TTL L6 Z axis now 2'x3'
OpenBuilds ACRO 510 w/ 2.0W TTL laser Cohesion Mini Z axis Homing switches
K40 Cohesion Mini 60W LightObject LPS
          80W Red-Black 500x700

cool is simply a subjective state of mind

Thanks for the replies.

! suspected that would be the case. Perhaps if I set up the laser parameters in T2 and save the Gcode it may work? I will just have to experiment. It would be great if does, I will still use T2 with my grbl diode laser of course.

I have found a third party control program by Scorch called K40 Whisperer which may be a suitable alternative to the Chinese software supplied with the machine. It's not arrived yet but when it does I will do some experiments and post the results.

Thanks again,

Steve.

Just had a reply from wild.bill - thank you I will investigate the Cohesion3D board.
