Correct on the wiring, though since I am unable to update the firmware, I cannot be sure about the functionality of the wiring.

I tried the GRBL1.1f (for x/y switches) something like that. At work and working from mem, but it was the f version for switches.

I would suggest enabling in the menu and see what happens.

I'm pretty sure I have that enabled in the menu. It's checked, anyway...

OK, so what happens when you click to home?

It should begin moving left and forwards until the switches close, then back off and slowly find the switching point before stopping.

Yep. It tracks left, but the home switch does not trigger. It it grinds, and then I disconnect it. Iím sure itís a firmware issue on the Arduino-Nano, but... hmmm... is it a a write-protect thing?
Not sure why I canít write the firmware.
Could it be something which my knock off Arduino?
I have an Arduino-Nano coming from Arduino.cc, on Wednesday so I guess I could try that one.

Iím open to ideads, because Iím gonna be engraving logos on handmade books, so I donít wanna screw it up, heh...

If the XY Sw. firmware was installed it should be moving forwards and left.

The only thing I can think is you accidentally installed the LaserAxe firmware and "bricked" the Nano. You can clear it and re-write the boot loader to recover it.

Maybe I wasnít clear. It happens, heh... the main problem is that I cannot upload the firmware for the xy switches. I get an error ďfirmware upload error.Ē So... the switches arenít recognized because I canít upload the firmware.
