Software Problem
« on: June 24, 2020, 03:50:35 PM »
Well I had been using this laser  but haven't in awhile  now it isn't working  I input a picture and I have it drawing the rectangle around the picture  but when I hit the green button to start to laser  nothing happens.

What could it be?

The bits responsible for controlling a laser are analogous to human mussels. If you don't use them they lose the ability to do work. I suspect you bits have suffered a similar fate. I've heard rumors that COVID-19 is accelerating the process. Did you cover the  air intake ducts with a certified mask? Did you let your PC memory get within 6 feet of a MAC? Did you threaten Windows with being replaced by Linux?

Things to check...

Power supply
On/Off switch
Grbl Ready message

If you have power getting to the motors / laser and the Nano is powering up from the USB then it should move.

OK, so if the machine works then it's most likely a software issue. What are you using?

You were lucky (or maybe not), it never even installed for me due to malware.

There are approximately 1475 similar posts on this forum about benbox software. Generic solution is to install generic grbl firmware and one of the reliable host applications such as T2 or BCL. Both have free trial options and infinitely better support.
