Hallo.

Ik ben hier nieuw op het forum en mijn naam is Bert.
Ik probeer met een 2.5W laser te snijden.
Nu is mijn vraag. wat zijn de brand uren van een Laser snijder?
Hoe kan ik zien dat de snij sterkte achteruit gaat?

Ik hoor het graag

Hi Bert, welcome to the forum. Please write in English.

Most laser diodes are rated 8,000 to 20,000 hours, but it depends on the current and heat sink / fan. So you should expect many years from your laser module. There are some brands that use a smaller diode and over-current to increase the output, this generates a lot more heat and reduces the life time significantly. I had one cheap module that was sold as 2.5W output and it failed after just a couple of days because it was a 500mW diode (poor thing). I have several other modules that have been working great for at least 3 years with no degredation and I have run many very long jobs with them.

Now my question is. what are the burning hours of a laser cutter?
How can I see that the cutting strength is deteriorating?

1. I am of the opinion that diodes are sorted according to quality and that what fails the industrial quality ends up as hobby.
2. Chinese laser vendors lie.
3. Low cost high power is obtained by overpowering the diode very much shortening its life.

I maintain a log that included the diode rating, burn speed & power, material, project name, and comments. It is quite evident that my 2.5W is slowly degrading while my 3.0W died rapidly.
