« on: July 20, 2016, 12:55:17 AM »
photo 1/2 no smoking printed on grey-wash scaffolding wood (printed diagonal)

photo 3/4 wedding thank you (for my own wedding  ;D ) dutch text at back printed with inkscape hersy text plugin

photo 5 some text on a wooden disk (looks like a tree slice, but its a cheap peace of pressed grainwood with a top of veneer which burns/engraves perfectly.

I've done this many times, no fumes or issues and the results are excellent.

It's also easy to make multi-color logo designs, just engrave the first color and fill with acrylic paint and then engrave the 2nd color... and so on.

This is one thing that the diode laser does much better, as with the CO2 you have to be very careful to only etch the paint otherwise you cause the glass to be etched also which doesn't look so good.

This is the result. 1st run were to fast and not completly visable.(feedrate 1000 on max laser diagonal and 0.2 resolution)(last picture)

2nd is visable, but i think not best result. The text is not completely clear, see picture. (Feedrate 800 max power (2.5w) diagonal laser in focus)

But for the effect i am glad with it.

@zax could you post a example of how it need to look from your perspective?

Off topic, am i the only one missing a pause button to pauze the g-code/burn process??? And is this a posibility?

I think those look really good.

If you de-focus the laser so the spot size is larger it may produce a better result, of course then you need to slow down or increase power as the effective power density is reduced also.

If you are using T2Laser you can click the send envelope again to pause it (see 40.b in the manual) but the stop/start point may show up due to the acceleration/deceleration that has to happen.
