Some Grbl firmware
« on: March 21, 2016, 11:36:19 AM »
Here are 3 useful hex (firmware) files:

Eleks Maker (Benbox): LX-Nano.328p.20150626.hex

J-Tech Grbl 0.9 (optimized for laser scanning, 1kHz PWM): jtech_grbl.hex

LaserInk Grbl 0.9 by nickw89509 (optimized for laser scanning, 7.8kHz PWM): laserink_grbl.hex

The default laser pin on Grbl 0.9 was changed from D12 to D11 as it provides PWM support, if your board doesn't support this (there may be a jumper located under the Nano) and you don't want to cut traces and modify it then you will need to re-compile the hex and comment out VARIABLE_SPINDLE in config.h

I have tested these and they are stable, but if you want to ensure you're using the latest version just do a search on Github.

Hey guys.

Sorry, I'm new to all of this...is the LX-Nano.328p.20150626.hex file running 0.9, or 0.8?

Many thanks :)

It is neither, although it was obviously based on Grbl 0.8 and modified to uses steps (pulses) rather than distances.

The big downside is it doesn't support G-Code or PWM.

for now i've a problem with the hex files....

updated from 0.8 to 0.9..
U. G-Code sender says: "Grbl J-Tech Photonics 0.9g ['$' for help]"

so the update seems to be OK....but... nothing works - weather the axis or Laser     o.O
with 0.8 everything had worked correctly (without Laser intense)

any solution ? I set the Jumper unter the arduino to 0.9 (Eleksmaker Board)

The parameters for 0.8 and 0.9 are different, you will need to load some defaults... T2Laser will do it (right click the send icon) or you can do them one at a time manually using UGS.

thanks for your solutions :)

the right click on send icon hasn't worked for me. And changing parameters also...
However the Nano does work now correctly - no idea what happened.

Times before i flashed the Nano directly without contact to the Eleks Maker Board.
Now I set the Jumper to 0.9 and flashed the J-Tech hex again (with Nano on the board, but Laser Power Button off) and it worked.

Thanks,

dagrizzly

dagrizzly, I had the same issue, just double check you have the most updated version of the T2Laser in Zax sig block, oh and follow the T2 conversion .doc as well.

flashed the Nano directly without contact to the Eleks Maker Board.

The Nano doesn't need to be connected to the Eleks board, just USB and you can flash it.

Firmware update and parameter download in T2Laser both require no G-Code to be loaded, I did that to prevent unintended operation.

I've the same issue. When I start the firmware upload the window appears but after agreeing upload a message appears that firmware can't be
deleted and upload is terminated.

Did you follow the T2 conversion PDF?

[Otherwise I check settings in UGS, and manually changed them if needed.

Yes, I followed the instructions and I installed Firmware with the Arduino IDE or with Benbox. It's not the Problem to upload the Firmware with other Tools.
I already posted a screenshot from the error message.

Klaus,  I went and found the screenshot along with the background in the other thread....

Which Firmware are you using?
Have you already moved the jumper under the Nano?

Yes, jumper is on 0.9 and I already had installed J-Tech firmware manually. To find out the problem I installed different firmware versions, but sadely
no change and always the same error message.
