Many times in AutoCAD I've accidentally 'stacked' objects one atop the other. Normally this is an error, but this is also a quick & easy 'repeat' command. Simply stack identical items one atop the other. You can rapidly make a stack of 16 or more objects. When you lase this .dxf the objects that are stacked repeat as many items in the stack making a quick burn through. I can lase a logo & drill mounting holes in one .dxf.
As others have mentioned the laser cuts with the grain better than cross grain as the following pictures show.
Picture 1 is the front of a pine 3/32" test sample. The cross hairs weren't stacked & were only lased once. The circle was a stack of 16 and basically cut thru. A very tiny center core was left in the small circle, a somewhat larger plug in the 1/4"+- hole.
