Some questions from a newbie

First of all, sorry for my poor English.
Beginner in the laser world, bought a 5500mW 50x65.
Experimenting Benbox, I discovered some things and some doubts arose:

- Time is for Discrete and Speed is for Continuous, is that right? It does not have difference between 300 or 1500 Speed if you are in Discrete mode? and the same with Time when in Continuius mode?

-It has some way to let the laser beam in the center of the design and not at home before starting in Benbox software?

-the card where is the Arduino does not have the jumper v0.9, can I use software other than Benbox?
I found it interesting the T2 Engraving interface, Benbox not have many options.

Yes, your understanding of Benbox is correct. Time = Discrete and Speed = Continuous.

I haven't used it in a while so I'm not sure about the center start but I think it does.

If your board doesn't have a jumper, it is probably already setup for 0.9 so you can try T2Laser.

You don't even need to change the firmware for testing, but if you want to use all the features it is highly recommended to load J-Tech firmware and my default settings (both can be done in T2Laser without any other programs or downloads).

Cool .... I tried running on the laptop that has the Benbox but will not run on Windows XP. I will find a way to connect the desktop with windows 10 for testing.

Another question is the difference between 'Scan by Line' and 'Scan by Z-shaped' ... what the advantage of using the Scan by Line? It seems to me that the Z Line optimized, since it takes advantage of the return. the results differ?

The quality may be slightly better using scan by line due to backlash of both axis, and you can use higher speed due to less moving mass.

Scan by Z is good for wood as it engraves across the grain, and if your machine is setup correctly it can also be faster due to using both axis simultaneously.
