Engraving Glass - 5.5W

Today, in order to flatten a thickness of 1 mm wooden sheet, which insisted on staying bent, put a piece of glass to flatten it and cut a straight line ... I saw that the glass was a scratch and decided to try giving more importance to the glass.
I was surprised with the result, I thought I could not do this with a laser 5500 mW ...

That looks almost as good as my CO2, which uses ~12W for glass.

A trick with glass is to put a wet piece of paper towel on top to prevent the microfractures from spreading, the result is much higher detail and crisper lines. No idea if it will work with a diode.

Will that laser do metal? I've seen some claims that seem too good to be true, but if it will mark metal that isn't anodized or using Thermark additive process then I want one.

I tried, with 1W laser 405nm, a piece of shiny aluminum, a small pipe, painted with black pen for overhead, but not scratched aluminum. I will try other metals.

yesterday found that has pieces of white paper that does not burn ... where the paper does not burn the glass does not engrave.
I tried a brown paper and burn it all, but the glass only in the beginning , in the rest is only spotted carbonization of paper.

and now it has appeared many areas in white paper  =/

Unfortunately failures do not have to do with paper, but with the fact that the laser weakened suddenly ...

This new one seems more powerful than the old 5.5w ... with laser power in 200 already it is possible to engrave without fail ...

It is a new machine, bought in Banggod, A3 ... a machine that the laser weakened was 50x65, bought from a seller on AliExpress ...
This new comes with Eleksmaker board and motors ...

More tests ... the high speeds provide an almost equal effect with the minimum wear of the glass, from 1500 almost does not feel the relief...
