Can T2L do this?
« on: October 17, 2016, 12:52:23 PM »
Over on the Laserweb google plus group there was a post showing this image with a blurb about what can be done with Smoothieware as apposed to GRBL.

I took that as a challenge lol but before I open my mouth and insert my foot I wanted to see if this could be done in GRBL with T2L.

That looks like a dither pattern rather than grey scale, but either way the answer is "yes" with the appropriate hardware.

Teach me Master! lol

Here is a link to one of the gray-scale  images.

And here is one user's result of that image.

In reference to Laserweb3...

This is what you can expect with Grbl JTech fork: https://plus.google.com/+PetervanderWalt/posts/ifZdKTkEcuJ

Honestly, I think Laserweb3 is capable of better results but and I've seen better with T2L and JTech GRBL.

Using grey scale mode and my defaults, set resolution to 0.05 and adjust feed to get the 100% dark.

If your laser has a linear response you will get a good result. I would also try dithered (same settings) as that appears to be what their images show.

My TTL laser module is off the machine at the moment or I'd give it a try.

By defaults you mean the GRBL defaults? I'm running 1.1 right now but I could switch to J-Tech for the test and load your defaults.

I did some tests with the other image you gave me with what I thought were decent results but I'll try this image tonight a well.

If you use my Grbl 1.1c firmware it already has the defaults, and it seems to work as well as J-Tech and actually smoother at higher speeds.

Ok, I'll have to throw something else on there first otherwise it won't overwrite my settings since they are the same version. In fact, I think I'm using the hex Lob0426 compiled. Is that the same one you are using?

I made a lot of changes to my settings and I'm curious to see how your settings differ from mine.

Thanks!

It is different than the one I made. I am using his now. I did bump up the speed for things in parameters!

Yeah I have speed settings changed, Max travel limits, and acceleration all changed on mine.

I think I'm a version or two behind on T2 as well so I'll update all that before I start this test.

v1.3h is the latest, it has the machine size upload so you're probably using it.

Yeah, someone with some serious talent created that command line utility.  ;D

Use it with my DXF Optimizer and Relocate Origin and it's magic!
